Magnaways has been founded in 1999 as "Mediaphor Kontroll- und Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH". After structural changes, Mediaphor GmbH has been renamed in 2001.

For now more than 4 years, Magnaways is in business. Its founder, Dr. Oliver Pott, has been responsible for some of the most successful consumer software products in Europe.

Intervideo Inc., based in Fremont, had been approached by Dr. Pott in 1999, asking for distribution rights in retail channels for WinDVD, an award-winning software DVD player.

When entering the German market, WinDVD evolved to an outstanding success. More than 200.000 copies have been sold in European retail channels within the first year.

Past experiences include also Zonelabs (Zonealarm), Strata (Strata 3D), WinDVR, VaroDVD and lots of more.
